It’s that time of year again when publishers, agents, booksellers, librarians, and authors from all over the world come together to showcase and review newly published material at the North American BookExpo America (BEA). The BEA will be held Thursday, May 30 through Saturday, June 1 at the Javits Center in NYC.
This is an opportunity for vendors to display their cutting-edge tools designed to make life easier for us publishing folks. It’s also an ideal place for agents – foreign and domestic – to pitch new ideas to various publishers. It is an amazing experience, but can be a bit overwhelming for newcomers. I’ll be arriving on Thursday, May 30 and plan to connect with other professionals throughout the conference.
In addition, I’ll be hosting a table at the uPublishU Conference, which will be held on Saturday, June 1. The all-new uPublishU at BEA (formerly known as DIY Authors Conference & Marketplace), is a place for aspiring writers and authors to learn tips and tactics from industry experts in the indie publishing world. I highly recommend this publishing conference to any author – seasoned or new – who would like to learn more about this industry. It will be held on the first floor of the Javits Center directly below the BEA showroom. For those of you who cannot attend, I’ll plan on providing updates about the event in the June newsletter.
For my published authors who wish to have their books showcased at the event, please contact me. I’ll be happy to arrange the details of having your book registered and available at the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) booth. For those of you who do not know, I’m a member of this non-profit organization. They offer indie publishers and authors an affordable way to participate at events that would otherwise be very expensive.
